Primary Early Voting Begins at Steele Creek Library September 3

Vote!(August 23, 2013) Early voting for this fall's primary will be held at the Steele Creek Library (13620 Steele Creek Road) and other sites from Tuesday, September 3 through Saturday, September 7. Hours at Steele Creek Library are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM Tuesday through Friday and 10:00 AM through 1:00 PM on Saturday.

Early voting also is available next week at the Hal Marshall Center in Uptown Charlotte.

Any registered voter from Mecklenburg County can vote at any site during Early Voting. Voters must vote at their local precinct if they vote on Primary Day, September 10.

Steele Creek voters who reside within the Charlotte city limits will have two offices in the Democratic primary and one in the Republican primary. If necessary, the Second Primary will be on October 8. Primary winners will face off in the General Election on November 5.

Mayor of Charlotte

Democrats will choose from four candidates:

Patrick D. Cannon
Gary Mitchell Dunn
James (Smuggie) Mitchell, Jr.
Lucille Puckett

Republicans will choose from two candidates:

Edwin B. Peacock III
David Michael Rice

Charlotte City Council At-Large

Democrats also will narrow the field of candidates for At-large seats on the Charlotte City Council from seven to four in the primary:

Michael D. Barnes (currently District 4 representative)
Claire Green Fallon (Incumbent)
David Howard (Incumbent)
Scott Derek Jenkins
Vi Alexander Lyles
Beth Pickering (Incumbent)
Nancy Wiggins

Republicans will not have a primary for At-large seats on the Charlotte City Council. The four Republican candidates will be on the November 5 General Election ballot.

Also on the November ballot, Steele Creek residents within Charlotte will vote on candidates for District 3 Charlotte City Council, and all Steele Creek voters will vote for District 2 Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board.
