Steele Creek Library Opens Job Help Center

Steele Creek Library(November 14, 2012) Last week the Steele Creek Branch Library opened a satellite location of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s Job Help Center. The Job Help Center is ready to assist patrons in their job search, offering 3 hour computer sessions, resume and job search assistance, classes, job search software, and more.

Steele Creek Bi-Lo shoppers donated funds that were used to purchase two state-of-the-art personal computers with links to the Main Library’s job resources: Job Help Center and Job Help at the Library and to other resources.

The Steele creek Library hopes to have workshops, trainings, and other programs offered from their Work Force Community. within the library system, only the Steele Creek, Sugar Creek, and Main branches have Job Help Centers.

This new service also designates the Steele Creek Library as a SNAP Site (Shared Network Access Points). These sites are collaborations with targeted area community partners to extend Charlotte Works’ resources within local neighborhoods and faith-based organizations so that communication, transportation, and other barriers to employment are reduced or eliminated  There are now more than 20 SNAP sites in the Charlotte area.

Bi-Lo shoppers made donations to the Steele Creek Library Association, which paid $1,887.58 for the two computers.
