Initial Meeting of Stroke Support Group is September 10 (August 14, 2008) Steele Creek resident Jake Osborne is organizing a support group for stroke and other brain injury and spinal cord injury survivors and their caregivers and family members in the southwest Mecklenburg area. The first meeting will be on Wednesday afternoon, September 10 at the Steele Creek Library (13620 Steele Creek Road) from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M.
Jake is the primary
caregiver for his wife who is a stroke survivor for almost 3 years
now. Others in our community are struggling as well, but with no
help from a local support group in the Steele Creek area, survivors,
caregivers, and other family members must travel uptown to Carolinas
Medical Center or Presbyterian Hospital to participate in a group.
Those uptown folks are excited about getting the Steele Creek area
covered.
