Steele Creek Historical Society Meets on the Last Monday of Each Month

(January 21, 2006) The first meeting for 2006 of the Steele Creek Historical and Genealogical Society will be on Monday, January 30 at the Steele Creek Library. The speaker will be Mrs. Ann Williams. She spoke at a society meeting over a year ago about the Torrence family, who lived at Rosedale. This time she will be discussing the new book about the family, "A Life in Antebellum Char1otte," which is based on the journal of Sarah Flew Davidson written in 1837.

Mr. Tom Hanchett will be coming in February with his program, "Who was Sharon, and why are all these streets named after her?"

The March speaker is not set, but Linda Dalton will give a brief history of Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church in April.

The Steele Creek Historical and Genealogical Society meets on the last Monday of each month, except July and December. All meetings are at the Steele Creek Branch Library (13620 Steele Creek Road) except for October and November, when the meetings are at Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church. Meetings begin at at 7:00 pm except for special times set for a function.
