CREEK NEWS (July 1, 2004) Tom Thrower, Division Traffic Engineer with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, has conducted a study of the intersection of Sledge Road and NC Highway 160 (Steele Creek Road) and has recommended a traffic signal and turn lanes on both Sledge Road and Highway 160- A design and cost estimate are being prepared. Once these are completed, funds will be requested. "Until funds are approved it is difficult to forecast installation date. It may be as late as next spring." Mr. Thrower said The traffic study was initiated after local residents complained about how dangerous the intersection was.
