McDowell Campground Honored as Best Campsite in North Carolina (August 10, 2019) Congratulations are in order to the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation staff at McDowell Nature Preserve Campground. Recently, the McDowell Campground was named the best campsite in North Carolina in a list of the best camping spots in each state by MSN based on ratings from Yelp and Trip Advisor. This honor is a strong testament to the hard work and great customer service that nature preserve staff provide daily. It is also evidence of the importance of the natural areas that we have protected in Mecklenburg County.
