STEELE CREEK NEWS
Westinghouse
Boulevard Divides Steele Creek
Politics
(November
17, 2004) Election results from November 2 show a political divide
in Steele Creek along Westinghouse Boulevard. Generally, precincts
north of Westinghouse Boulevard have more registered Democrats and
those to the south have more registered Republicans. The 2004 vote
results generally follow this pattern.
The major
exception was in the governor's race, where two of the three
southern precincts went for Democrat Mike Easley. Additionally,
Precinct 200 (Berryhill Baptist Church), which is partially within
Steele Creek, has predominant Democratic registration but voted
Republican in the major races. Precinct 200 is the only Steele Creek
area precinct to vote against the park bonds, which will benefit
area greenways and other park facilities.
Election results
for precincts do not include absentee (early) and provisional
voting. See all results on the
Mecklenburg
County Board of Elections web site.
