STEELE CREEK NEWS

District 3 Town Hall Meeting is June 5

(May 22, 2004) Charlotte City Council member Warren Turner is holding a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, June 5 to discuss neighborhood issues and concerns and to set an agenda for District 3. The meeting will be held on Saturday, June 5th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NOON in the CPCC Southwest Campus Auditorium at 315 Hebron Road. Light refreshments will be served and free parking will be available at the site.

Items for discussion include:

  • Transit on the West Side
  • Public Safety
  • Code Enforcement (parking on front lawns, abandoned houses, etc.)
  • Zoning and Planning Issues

Councilman Turner says "I am honored to serve as your District Council member and look forward to working with you in setting goals for District 3 and accomplishing them together."

All of the area of Steele Creek that currently is within the Charlotte city limits is in City Council District 3. Many additional Steele Creek neighborhoods likely will be annexed by Charlotte in 2005 and become part of District 3 as well. Finally, all of the unincorporated area of Steele Creek is within Charlotte's Extraterritorial Planning and Zoning Jurisdiction, and thus the Charlotte City Council has jurisdiction over all rezoning petitions in Steele Creek.

This is your opportunity to learn more about city government services and the roll of the City Council, as well as to express concerns and suggestions to Councilman Turner.
