Steele Creek YMCA Express Facility to Open in January

(November 15,  2003) The 17,500 square foot Steele Creek YMCA is scheduled to open in January 2004. It is located in a converted building in the new Ayrsley development on the southeast side of the Highway 49 and I-485 interchange. The address is 2135 Ayrsley Town Boulevard.

This express facility will include:

  • 5,500 square foot fitness center with state of the art cardiovascular and strength training equipment
  • Fitlinxx: Computer-based interactive training system
  • Personal training
  • Two dedicated rooms for group exercise, including yoga, pilates, and spinning
  • Childwatch
  • Family fitness area
  • Locker rooms
The Steele Creek YMCA is collaborating with Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church for use of their facilities to provide afterschool child care, summer day camp, and youth sports programs, including basketball, soccer, flag football, and T-ball.

A family membership for the Steele Creek facility has a joining fee of $150 and a monthly dues of $69. Individual and other memberships also are available. Call 704-716-4900 for more information.

The YMCA plans to purchase land in Steele Creek to build a full facility with an indoor pool, a gymnasium, an expanded fitness center, and group exercise rooms at some point in the future.
