Rezoning Meeting for Sandy Porter Site November 6

(October 29,  2003) LandCraft Properties has requested a zoning change from R-3 to R-8(CD) for approximately 20 acres of property located on Sandy Porter Road just south of Oakhaven Drive and across from Stone Ridge Apartments.

Under current R-3 zoning a maximum of 59 lots are allowed. LandCraft plans to build single-family detached homes on 107 lots (5.4 per acre). They plan not to build in two sections of wetlands totaling 5 acres. The site plan shows only a single access from Sandy Porter Road, even though the property borders the dead end of Township Road, which would provide access from Highway 49.

LandCraft will hold a public meeting on Thursday November 6 from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Steele Creek Branch Library to discuss their plans and receive input. (The library is in the Steele Creek Commons Shopping Center, which is at the corner of Sandy Porter Road and Highway 49.)

The Charlotte City Council has scheduled a public hearing on the rezoning petition for December 15.
