Association Annual Meeting is January 28 at Kennedy Middle School
(January 12, 2003)
The annual meeting of the Steele Creek Residents Association will be
held in the Kennedy Middle School Multi-purpose Room on Tuesday
January 28 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The featured
speaker will be Wayne Weston, Director of the Mecklenburg County
Park and Recreation Department. He will speak and answer
questions on current status and plans for parks in the Steele Creek
Area. Future area parks and facilities include the Upper Steele
Creek District Park and greenways for Steele Creek and Coffey Creek.
Completion of
final phases of major
parks, including the Thomas McAllister Winget Park
is one of the department's priorities.
Projects at Winget Park include softball upgrades, tennis courts, an
enclosed shelter, a playground, a trail, and landscaping.
Also speaking will
be representatives of the developers for three large projects that
are coming to Steele Creek: Berewick, Palisades, and Island Pointe.

Kennedy Middle School
is located at 4000
Gallant Lane.
Go west on Arrowood Road past S Tryon Street (Hwy 49) and through
the Whitehall Office Park. Continue past the interchange of Future
I-485 and past the stop light at Sandy Porter Road. Arrowood Road
changes to Brown-Grier Road at this intersection. Kennedy Middle
School is about 1/4 mile on the right. Enter from Gallant Lane. Come
through the main front door. The Multi-purpose room is straight
ahead, but you'll probably have to go around to one side or the
other to enter.
