Charlotte Observer: City's Best Kept Secret is Out
(September 29, 2002)
In the Charlotte Observer's special "Living Here"
section, Eric Frazier says that "The Steele Creek area, a
formerly well-kept secret, is a secret no longer."
"The Steele Creek area has gone from sleepy to booming in
surprisingly fast fashion," he writes.
Frazier cites
development underway at Whitehall, Ayrsley, Palisades, the
still-unnamed Pappas Properties community, and around the Steele
Creek Road/York Road intersection. But you can still get a hot dog
at Byrum's Store, go camping at McDowell Nature Preserve on Lake
Wylie, hang out at Carowinds, or take an afternoon jog at Winget
Park.
