Bus Rapid Transit Route along Wilkinson Boulevard Recommended for West Corridor

(September 21,  2002) On September 18 Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) staff recommended a route following Wilkinson Boulevard through the West Corridor. Planners had considered an alternative alignment that generally followed West Boulevard and Byrum Drive on the south side of the airport, but the Wilkinson Boulevard was chosen instead. Plans call for a bus rapid transit route along Wilkinson Boulevard to a point north of the airport. The announced recommendations also include enhanced bus services along West Boulevard and Tyvola Road to Yorkmont Road serving employment centers on the south side of the airport.
