Decisions Expected on Three
Rezoning Petitions on September 21
(August
15, 2020) The next zoning meeting of the Charlotte City Council is scheduled as a virtual meeting on
Monday, Septemver 21 beginning at 5:00. Please monitor the City Council meeting schedule

Upcoming Decisions
The City Council held Public Hearings
for the following petitions on July 20, and the Zoning Committee
reviewed them at its meeting on August 4. Planning Staff recommended
approval of all three petitions, and the Zoning Committee also
recommended approval of all three petitions. The City Council should
make decisions on these at its September 21 meeting.
2020-014 -
Revision to previous zoning for 30 townhouses on the west
side of Erwin Road.

2020-046 - Take 5 Oil Change on South Tryon Street at Whitehall Park Drive (former Applebee's location)
2020-053 -

Approved Petitions
The Charlotte City
Council approved the following petition at
its January 21 meeting.
2019-030 -
Up to 272 apartments on 30.73 acres (8.85 units per acre) north of S Tryon Street and southwest of Erwin Road.
The Steele Creek Area Plan calls for up to 4 units per acre in the
northern parcel and up to 8 units per acre in the southern parcel.
The site includes a large area of wetlands that will be preserved. Petitioner requested a change from R-3 to R-12MF(CD).
However, the original petitioner,
Continental 475 Fund, has withdrawn from the project, so it will not proceed unless a new developer
comes in. Parcel # 20122103 and 20122117.
The Charlotte City
Council approved the following petition at
its May 18 meeting.
2019-176 -
Former Steele Creek Presbyterian Church and other nearby parcels
east of Steele Creek Road and south of Byrum Drive, currently owned
by the City of Charlotte and Charlotte Douglas Airport. This is
straight up rezoning to I-2 with no conditions or site plan.
