New Elementary School to Draw Students from Steele Creek, Lake Wylie, and Two Other Schools (March 5, 2020) Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools plans to open a new 45-classroom elementary school on Sandy Porter Road in August 2021. It will relieve and take students from Steele Creek Elementary, Lake Wylie Elementary, Nations Ford Elementary, and Sterling Elementary. A map of the draft attendance boundaries for discussion and feedback is below. The new school location is indicated by a yellow star. Share your feedback on the proposed boundaries at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/K73LB9L. The Board of Education will hold a public hearing on the proposed boundaries at one of its regular meetings in March, April. or May and will approve the boundaries no later than June 2020. The new school will be located on the west side of Sandy Porter Road between Oakhaven Drive and South Tryon Street as shown on the image below.
