Vote!Steele Creek Primary Guide
Early Voting Begins February 13

(February 13, 2020) Early voting for the 2020 Primary Election began on Thursday, February 13 at the former Hollywood Video on the corner of S Tryon St and Moss Rd (11130 S Tryon St). Voters may register and vote at any Mecklenburg County Early Voting site during Early Voting. Election Day is March 3 when voters must go to their polling locations. March 3 voters must have registered by February 7, but eligible voters can still register during Early Voting. IDs will not be required to vote but may be required to register.

Dates and times are as follows:

The Primary Election is on Tuesday, March 3 from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Voting is at each precinct's regular polling location. Note that the polling location for Precinct 230 is now the Berewick Recreation Center (5910 Dixie River Rd). (See MAP.)

Voters may request an Absentee Ballot now until February 25 and must return them to the Board of Elections by March 6.

Democratic Primary

In addition to the Presidential Primary, offices on the Democratic ballot include US Senate, US House of Representatives District 12, NC Governor, NC Lieutenant Governor, NC Auditor, NC Commissioner of Agriculture, NC Superintendent of Public Instruction, and NC Treasurer. Candidates for Lieutenant Governor include current NC House District 92 Represetative and Steele Creek resident Chaz Beasley.

Only two local races are on the Democratic ballot:

Board of County Commissioners At-Large

Ella Scarborough
Lloyd Scher
Brenda Stevenson
Leigh Altman
Patricia (Pat) Cotham
Tera Lee Long

Ray S. McKinnon

Other races, including NC Senate District 39, NC House District 92, and Board Of County Commissioners Districts 2 and 6, have only one Democratic candidate and thus do not have a primary.

Republican Primary

In addition to the Presidential Primary, offices on the Republican ballot include US Senate, NC Governor, NC Lieutenant Governor, NC Attorney General, NC Auditor, NC Commissioner of Insurance, NC Commissioner of Labor, NC Secretary of State, and NC Superintendent of Public Instruction.

No local races are on the Republican ballot. Other races, including NC Senate District 39, NC House District 92, and Board Of County Commissioners District 6, have only one Republican candidate and thus do not have a primary.

Libertarian Primary

The Libertarian Party has a Presidential Primary.
