Come Plant Trees at Southwest Middle School

(October 16, 2017) Southwest Middle School is getting a little greener! They are participating in an exciting event with TreesCharlotte, a public/private collaboration dedicated to grow and diversify Charlotte's urban forest by planting 500,000 trees by 2050, promoting tree stewardship, and educating how to plant and preserve trees.

TreesCharlotte and Southwest Middle School are hosting a tree planting event on Saturday, November 4 from 9:00 to noon, and they are looking for a lot of volunteers to help plant over 750 trees around the campus.

Trees clean our air, reduce storm water run-off, cool our streets, reduce energy use, enhance wellness, increase property values, and give us beauty.

As a volunteer you will be provided with all the instruction and oversight you need to be successful planting trees at the event.

These events offer the perfect opportunity to get church groups, scouts, corporate teams, etc involved in the important mission of TreesCharlotte. TreesCharlotte events are super fun and rewarding.

The Southwest Middle School band änd orchestra will perform at this event.

Volunteers walk away with a TreesCharlotte water bottle and the satisfaction of planting trees for now and for the future - plus you will have a lot of fun!

To register to volunteer, visit http://treescharlotte.org/event/southwest-middle-school-treeday-event/ Deadline to register is Sunday, October 29.

There is also a TreeDay Event at River Gate Elementary School on Saturday, October 21 from 9:00 to  11:30 AM. See River Gate Elementary TreeDay Event to register as a volunteer.

Last December, TreesCharlotte and over 150 volunteers planted over 300 trees on the campus of Kennedy Middle School. See TreesCharlotte Creates Future Forest on Kennedy Campus.
