STEELE CREEK NEWS
Business Community
and Olympic Friends Invited to Participate in STEMfest 2015
(October
26, 2015)
Are you interested in sparking STEM curiosity and helping elementary
and middle school students connect-the-dots?
Olympic will
launch its first STEMfest 2015 on Saturday, November 14 from 10:00 AM
to 12:00 PM,
before the Lego Robotics Competition begins.
During STEMfest
2015 at Olympic:
- Olympic will be the primary host/sponsor of a Lego Robotics Competition where 600
to 800 people are expected to attend
- Olympic will provide a broad variety of hands-on STEM related activities targeted at elementary and middle school students (in between matches, Robotics competitors will be encouraged to participate in the STEM activities)
- Olympic will host an Open House event at Olympic where students will see firsthand the STEM programs that Olympic has to offer with its variety of small high schools and career academies
Can you or your firm participate in some fashion to
support STEMfest. Here are some ideas of what your support could
look like:
- Conduct a hands-on activity for elementary and middle school students (We can give you a classroom if necessary depending on the amount of space needed)
- Present a table top display about your company so students interface with careers in your industry sector as well as who your company is and what they do
- Present an industry exhibition -- what is advanced manufacturing? What's in it for me (the student)?
Please let Mike
Realon of the Olympic Community of Schools know ASAP if you can help
support STEMfest 2015. Contact Mike at 980-343-3800 Extension

Committed participants:
