Vote!Democrats to Select Mayoral Candidate in Second Primary on October 6

(September 24, 2015) Former Chair of the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners Jennifer Roberts led the field in the Democratic primary for Charlotte's mayor on September 15 but did not have sufficient votes to avoid a runoff against second place finisher, incumbent Mayor Dan Clodfelter. Their names will be the only ones on the October 6 primary ballot.

The winner of the second Democratic primary will face the winner of the Republican primary, Edwin Peacock, in the November 3 general election.

All registered Democrats who live within the Charlotte city limits can vote in the primary runoff. Also, persons registered as unaffiliated can vote if they voted in the first Democratic primary or if they did not vote at all.

Early voting begins Thursday, September 24 at Central Piedmont Community College and on Tuesday, September 29 at at five additional sites. There will be no early voting at the Steele Creek Library. The closest early voting sites to Steele Creek are at South County Regional Library and West Boulevard Library. Click HERE for more information on the second primary from the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections, including the early voting sites and schedule and information on absentee voting.

A low voter turnout is expected, which means that your vote could be crucial in deciding the winner. YOUR VOTE COUNTS!
