Palisades
Episcopal School Announces Expansion Plans
(May
16,
2013)
On Tuesday, May 13, 2014, Palisades Episcopal School (PES)
announced the successful completion of the silent phase of their
Footprints Capital Campaign. Campaign co-chair Jordan Gross shared
that the school’s recent fund raising efforts have raised over one
million dollars for the construction of a much needed gymnasium for
PES. “This is the culmination of a dream we have had for PES since
we became a part of the School four years ago, and I am so happy to
be a part of the team that helped turn this vision into a reality”
said Jordan Gross.
Also on hand for the announcement were John Watson and Carol
Bacon, from ADW Architects, who shared pictures of the new facility,
and walked families through a 3-D computerized model of the gym. The
new gym will include a full size basketball court, along with space
for large scale school events and activities. “Currently we have to
rent gym space for our Middle School athletic teams, which is not
only costly, but means we have to play our games and matches
off-site” said PES Athletic Director Rusty Menchaca. “Having gym
space on campus will not only save PES money, but it will build
school spirit and camaraderie as all families will find it
convenient to attend sporting events and cheer on our athletes.”
Following the indoor presentation, families were invited outside
to see the physical footprint of the new gym, outlined in paint by
Bryan Knupp of Edifice, Inc., the contractors for the new building.
Wish lanterns were launched as the PES families, faculty and staff
joined in celebration of this milestone in the School’s history.
“Palisades Episcopal School is a school honoring Christ and
committed to providing a classical education challenging the mind,
body and spirit, and with this new gym, we will be able to more
effectively fulfill this mission” said Head of School Kerin Hughes.
Construction is expected to begin in early autumn and be completed
in 10 months.
