STEELE CREEK NEWS
Are You Interested
in Becoming Involved in the Future of Highway 160?
(March 9, 2013) At
its annual meeting last week, the Steele Creek Residents Association
unanimously passed the following resolution:
The citizens of Steele Creek
respectfully request that MUMPO raise the priority of widening
Highway 160 from I-485 to the South Carolina state line for the
safety of our residents due to increased traffic from new retail and
residential developments and from South Carolina.
Over the coming
months and years, the
Mecklenburg-Union
Metropolitan Planning Organization (MUMPO) will be
establishing criteria for ranking potential highway projects and
preparing those rankings. The residents of Steele Creek need to
monitor and participate in this process to ensure that Highway 160
is given proper attention.
The Steele Creek
Residents Association would like to identify persons who might be
able to be involved in the process. The next MUMPO meeting is on
March 20, and we would like to meet and discuss possible courses of
action before then.
If you are interested
in participating in efforts to promote the widening Highway 160,
please contact the Residents Association at
