Representatives of Steele Creek Limited Partnership will be holding
a Community Meeting on Tuesday, December 11 beginning at 6:00 PM to
provide information on two rezoning petitions of interest to Steele
Creek residents.
Date:
Tuesday, December 11
Time: 6:00 PM
(Petition 2013-102) and
7:30 PM (Petition 2013-101)
Location: Steele Creek Presbyterian Church
7407 Steele Creek Road
Tanger
Outlets of Greensboro and
Simon Property
Group of Indianapolis announced last week that the two
companies will jointly develop the outlet mall planned at Steele
Creek Road and I-485. (See
Press Release.)
Rezoning Petition 2013-001 requests changes that will
allow construction of the mall, as many as five upscale restaurants,
a hotel, and additional commercial uses.
The 350,000
square-foot mall will be named Charlotte Premium Outlets. Tanger
will provide site development and construction supervision to the
venture and will own the mall. Simon will provide management
services and marketing to the joint venture. Both companies will
provide leasing services. They expect the center to have its grand
opening in the spring of 2014. When completed, the center will be
home to more than 90 upscale brand name and designer outlet stores.
Tanger and Simon
expect the project to create a significant economic impact on the
area and many opportunities for employment. During the mall's
approximately year-long building phase, approximately 300
construction jobs will be created. The retailers are expected to
employ more than 900 in full and part-time retail management and
sales jobs at the mall when open.
Rezoning Petition 2013-002 is to allow industrial and
office uses on approximately 110 acres located east of I-485 between
Sandy Porter Road and West Arrowood Road. The I-1 (CD) and O-1 (CD)
zoning will allow the installation of a billboard to alert motorists
traveling north on I-485 to take the next exit to visit the new
outlet mall.
Steele Creek Limited
Partnership owns most of the property where the mall will be built
and the entire site for the industrial and office rezoning.
