Steele Creek Library
Opens Job Help Center
(November
14,
2012) Last week the Steele Creek Branch Library opened a satellite
location of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s Job Help Center. The
Job Help Center is ready to assist patrons in their job search,
offering 3 hour computer sessions, resume and job search assistance,
classes, job search software, and more.
Steele Creek Bi-Lo
shoppers donated funds that were used to purchase two
state-of-the-art personal computers with links to the Main Library’s
job resources:
Job Help Center and
Job Help at
the Library and to other resources.
The Steele creek
Library hopes to have workshops, trainings, and other programs
offered from their Work Force Community. within the library system,
only the Steele Creek, Sugar Creek, and Main branches have Job Help
Centers.
This new service also
designates the Steele Creek Library as a SNAP Site (Shared Network
Access Points). These sites are collaborations with targeted area
community partners to extend Charlotte Works’ resources within local
neighborhoods and faith-based organizations so that communication,
transportation, and other barriers to employment are reduced or
eliminated There are now more than 20 SNAP sites in the Charlotte
area.
Bi-Lo shoppers made
donations to the Steele Creek Library Association, which paid
$1,887.58 for the two computers.
