Olympic High
School in State Playoffs Next Friday
(November
7,
2010) The
Olympic High School Trojans defeated West Mecklenburg last Friday night 28
to 7, finished in a tie for second place in the MEGA7 conference,
and qualified for the 4AA state playoffs. Olympic's record was 6-4
overall and 4-2 in the MEGA7. (See
Trojans ready for next chapter, Charlotte Observer,
November 6, 2010.)
Olympic will play at
Mallard Creek on November 12. This will be a challenge since Mallard
Creek is undefeated at 10-0 this year and is rated number 3 in the
Charlotte Observer's Sweet 16. If Olympic wins on Friday,
they'll host the Ardrey Kell - South Mecklenburg winner the
following week.
Coach Barry Shuford
led the Trojans to a 10-3 record and the MEGA7 Championship last
year. They had high expectations for this year, and the playoffs are
their opportunity to finish the season on a more positive note and
build towards 2011.
