Public Invited to
Help Develop Steele Creek Area Plan
(June 19, 2009)
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Department will be holding
meetings on June 23 and 25 to begin
developing a
Steele Creek Area Plan.
Four identical
meetings are scheduled:
Date and Time:
Tuesday, June 23rd and Thursday, June 25th
4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Location:
Whitehall Technology Park (located off South Tryon Street across
from
Ayrsley)
2520 Whitehall Park Drive, Suite – 700 (formerly Fabric World)
Steele Creek is one
of the most rapidly changing areas of Mecklenburg County. An area
plan will provide the framework for future growth and development
and serve as guidance for elected officials when making land use and
zoning decisions.
Business and
property owners, area residents, and other stakeholders are
encouraged to attend this meeting to provide input in developing a
vision to help shape future development of the area. At the public
meeting, staff will ask for volunteers to serve on a citizen
advisory group to work with staff over the next several months to
develop a draft plan for the area. This group will likely meet
monthly for four to five times and should contain a mixture of
participants.
The area to be
covered by the plan is generally the area south of Berewick and
Shopton Road and west of Coffey Creek. It includes the Westinghouse
Industrial corridor.
