Information on Garden Parkway August 6
(July 25,
2008) The North Carolina Turnpike Authority is holding three
Citizens Informational Workshops on the Gaston East-West Connector,
or Garden Parkway. This proposed toll roll will connect I-485 at the
unopened West Boulevard interchange at the northwest edge of Steele
Creek to I-85 west of Gastonia. For a map, schedule, and other

The North Carolina
Turnpike Authority (NCTA) proposes to improve east-west travel
through Gaston County by constructing a new toll facility
between 1-85 west of Gastonia and 1-485/NC 160 in western
Mecklenburg County. This workshop series will present updated
maps and information on the alternatives to be studied in detail
in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. An Updated Purpose
and Need Statement and the Alternatives Development and
Evaluation Report also will be available for review.
The NCTA is authorized to study, develop and construct up to
nine toll roads in the state. The Gaston East-West Connector is
one of five projects currently being studied.
NOTE: Participants are encouraged to drop in at any time between
4:30pm and 7:30pm for any of the workshops. All three workshops
will present the SAME information and displays. Children are
welcome to accompany their parents or guardians. For more
