Gary Rodgers, Jr.
Earns the Eagle Scout Award
(July
18, 2008)
Gary Mitchell Rodgers, Jr. is Troop 45's newest Eagle Scout. Gary
was awarded the Eagle Scout at a special ceremony held in his honor
May 31, 2008. The Eagle award is the highest award earned by a youth
member of the Boy Scouts, and of all the boys who enter Scouting,
only 4 percent earn Eagle Scout.
As part of
the requirements for Eagle Scout, Gary was required to complete a
community service leadership project. For his project, Gary planned
and led the effort to decorate the hallways of the Renaissance
School at Olympic with the school colors and symbols, giving the
Renaissance school a unique identity.
Gary has
been a member of Troop 45 since 2001. He is a recent graduate of
Olympic High School and plans to attend Winston Salem State
University in the fall.
Troop 45 is
sponsored by Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church and is led by
Lynn Snuggs. Visit the troop web site at
