Police Schedule
Meeting at Steele Creek AME Zion Church August 21
(July 29, 2007)
The Steele Creek Division of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police
Department has scheduled a community meeting on Tuesday, August 21
at 7:00 P.M. at Steele Creek AME Zion Church. The church is located
on Shopton Road between S Tryon Street and Beam Road, near the
Steele Creek Division office and the Police Academy.
Steele Creek Division
Commander Diego Anselmo plans to attend, as do representatives
of Charlotte Code Enforcement, Planning and Zoning, and Department
of Transportation. The forum will cover code violations,, better
street lighting, speeding, and more.
The focus will be on
the McDowell Farms and McDowell Meadows communities, but other
area residents are encouraged to attend and learn more about what
the Police Department and other city departments can do to help your
communities.
But the police
can't do it all. The community must also be involved to keep our
neighborhoods safe and livable.
During the meeting
Captain Anselmo and Community Police Officer Donna Burgess will
discuss the importance of the crime watch program and how and why
police respond to certain calls and not others.
Residents should be aware of why the police
may not respond to incidents that have already taken place. The
police will follow up all cases once a case report has been
generated.
Pastor George Banks
will talk about youth programs he plans to
introduce at the church.
For more information, contact Officer Burgess
at 704-336-7800 or by e-mail at
