STEELE CREEK NEWS
Try "A Taste of
Southwest Charlotte" on August 18
A Food Festival for the
Entire Community
(June
15, 2007)
The
Southwest Middle School PTSA is hosting
“A TASTE OF SOUTHWEST CHARLOTTE” on August 18, 2007. This
is an excellent opportunity for all our neighbors to partner with
our school to enforce their commitment to education.
The event is scheduled a week before school starts (peak shopping
time) and will consist of area food vendors, arts and craft vendors,
a farmer’s market, live cooking demonstrations, raffles, a silent
auction, and a kiddie area, all with free admission and free
parking.
Southwest Middle School is located in the Steele Creek area
near the intersection of Steele Creek Road (Hwy 160) and York Road
(Hwy 49) and is near to the Fort Mill, Tega Cay, and Lake Wylie
communities.
Our school is close to 4 years old with a design capacity to
accommodate 1,050 students. Presently we have approximately 1,200
students enrolled. As you are aware our area is experiencing
tremendous residential, commercial, and industrial growth.
We are constantly soliciting the community, as partners to help
supplement much needed educational resources because the school
system’s funding is so stretched. The PTSA is committed to providing
students the resources necessary to excel. We would like to purchase
books, materials and equipment to supplement the school system’s
programs.
This school year our
students represented Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools at the National
Math competition.
