STEELE CREEK NEWS
2006 Residents
Association Annual Meeting is February 16
(December
16, 2005)
The 2006 Annual Meeting of the Steele Creek Residents Association
will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday February 16 at Pleasant Hill
Presbyterian Church (15000 York Road). Pleasant Hill Church is
located on York Road (NC Highway 49) just east of the entrance to
McDowell Nature Preserve. If you are traveling southwest on Highway 49 towards
South Carolina, the church is on the right about 2 miles past the
intersection with NC Highway 160 (Steele Creek Road) and about 1.3
miles before the Buster Boyd Bridge.
The emphasis of the meeting will be community safety. Mecklenburg
County Sheriff and Steele Creek resident Jim Pendergraph will
introduce the main speaker, Chief Darrel Stephens of the
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Personnel from the Steele
Creek division also will be present.
There also will be a brief update on the new RiverGate center and on
other community organizations.
There was no meeting in 2005. This is your chance to meet your
neighbors and catch up on community issues.
The Steele Creek Residents Association was formed in 1980 to protect
the community from undesirable development. The Association
continues to fulfill that objective through its Land Use Committee,
which meets with rezoning petitioners and prospective rezoning
petitioners to review and comment on development plans.
The Residents Association also is active in the development of a
trail system in Steele Creek through its Community Trail Committee.
