STEELE CREEK NEWS
Needs Assessment
Meeting for Southwest Park District is December 8
(November 15, 2005)
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department invites citizens
to comment and help determine future capital needs for parks and
recreation in the next decade.
These discussions, called Capital Needs Assessments, involve issues
such as land acquisition, greenway development, new parks,
recreation center construction and rehabilitation, and
rehabilitation of existing parks, athletic fields and courts. The
assessments are the start to drawing capital budgets.
The Parks Department
has scheduled a series of community workshops, each addressing a
specific geographic area, sport, or facility. Members of
Stewardship, Greenway, Therapeutic, Aquatic and Soccer advisory
councils will be present at each of the workshops. Citizens will
have an opportunity to have input on priorities for the upcoming
decade.
The meeting for the
Steele Creek area will be at 6:30 pm on December 8 at the
Renaissance Golf Course (1525 West Tyvola Rd).
For a full
schedule of meetings see the Parks Department web page on
Citizen Participation for Capital Needs.
The Steele Creek
Community Trail Committee hopes for a good show of support for the
Steele Creek and Walkers Branch Greenway Trails that will promote
the development of a trail system within Steele Creek.
