STEELE CREEK NEWS
Katrina Relief
Donations are being Collected at Steele Creek Library
(September
3, 2005) Armstrong Relocation on Westinghouse Boulevard, an agent
of United Van Lines, has placed donation boxes for Katrina
victims at the Steele Creek Library. Once they collect enough items
to fill a truck, they will drive them to the hurricane area.
They need about
25,000 pounds of goods to make a load, so they need lots of stuff.
If they exceed that, they'll send another truck load.
Current needs are for
non-perishable foods, such as canned meats, bottled water, baby
formula and other baby products, and toiletries and other personal
items. (They've collected an abundance of clothes so far, so the
need for them is not so great.) A list of
additional suggested items is below.
If you need boxes or
have items to be picked up, contact Armstrong Relocations at
704-944-2936.
Armstrong Relocation
staff haven't decided where to take the truck and are open to
suggestions. If you are aware of a location where the need is great
and perhaps isn't being met, please suggest it. The Steele Creek
community might even adopt a forgotten town.
Bring donations
to the Steele Creek Library (13620 Steele Creek Road) from 9
am to 9 pm Monday through Thursday and from 9 am to 6 pm Friday and
Saturday. Donations also are being accepted at the Armstrong
Relocation office at 440 Westinghouse Boulevard (near Steele Creek
Road) during normal business hours.
For more information,
contact Cheryl Pitts of Armstrong Relocations/United Van Lines at 704-944-2936 or the
Steele Creek Library at 704-588-4345.
