Olympic Senior
Brandon Meeks Awarded Bridge Scholarship
(June 1,
2005) Brandon Meeks of Olympic High School has been awarded The
Bridge Scholarship, a four year financial aid package awarded
annually to a senior from a high school in Mecklenburg County.
Brandon has a broad background. He will attend Western Carolina
University and major in music education. He plans to teach in the
public schools. He is the Olympic drum major and has spent his
summers at leadership academies--a real testimony to his focus.
Brandon has taken university preparatory courses and concentrated in
the culinary arts program, which is a match for his artistic
talents. He has competed on the local and regional level in culinary
events.
Brandon began his sophomore year working at Carowinds. He currently
is an assistant accountant at Bi-Lo. This is a key measure of his
integrity and honesty.
The
Bridge Foundation of Charlotte presents the scholarship
annually to the individual who can best present his or her need for
financial aid in order to achieve a specific goal or to participate
in a particular program at any accredited college or university in
the United States of America.
This is the second year of the Bridge Scholarship, and Olympic is
very pleased to have both the first year and the second year
recognition.
