STEELE CREEK NEWS
Athletic
Association Bar-B-Que is March 4
(February
13,
2005) The 38th Annual Steele Creek Athletic Association Community
Bar-B-Que will be held on Friday, March 4th from 10:00 am until 8:00
pm in the Fellowship Hall of the Central Steele Creek Presbyterian
Church.
Lunch and supper will be served and takeout is also available. The
church is at the corner of Westinghouse Boulevard and Highway
49/South Tryon Street.
This
“bar-b-que” is not your backyard cookout. This is bar-b-que in the
best tradition of North Carolina. Three-thousand pounds of pork
shoulder s-lo-w cooked for 12-14 hours over hard wood coals. The
cooking is done in the pits behind the Steele Creek American Legion
Post on highway 160 and begins on Thursday morning. The bar-b-que is
taken off the pits around 4:30 Friday morning and transported to the
church fellowship hall, where it is chopped and served.
The bar-be-que is
available as a plate with white slaw, chips, bread, and a pie or as
a bag of three sandwiches, slaw, and chips. “Bulk” may also be
available. Tickets will be sold through the basketball &
cheerleading teams as in previous years.
Bring your friends and enjoy the fun and fellowship at a great
community event!
