City Council to Hold Public Hearing on Proposed Annexation October
11
(September 20, 2004)
The Charlotte City Council will hold a public hearing at its
regular meeting on October 11 on the city's plans to annex eight areas into
Charlotte in July 2005. Two of these areas are in Steele Creek, and
they total almost 5,000 acres and have over 9,500 residents.
Residents will have the opportunity at that time to express
their views on the annexation to the City Council. The City
Council meeting is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting
chamber in the Government Center. The public hearing likely will
occur early in the meeting. Check the
Charlotte City Council web page for the meeting agenda.
Free parking is available across Davidson Street in the parking
deck.
The City Council
likely will pass the annexation ordinance in November, and it will
take effect at midnight on June 30, 2005.
For more
information on the annexation, see the
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission Annexation Information page.
