Steele Creek
Community Band to Double In Size
(December 31,
2004) The Steele
Creek Community Band began in June 2004 with six members at its
first meeting. It ends the year with a playing roster of twenty. It
is our goal to at least double in size in 2005. In 2004, we enjoyed
performing in many different settings. The events ranged from the
opening of the Steele Creek branch of the public library in August
to the Southern Christmas Show and the Lake Wylie Christmas parade
during the holidays.
During the next
six months we'll be developing our repertoire of patriotic music and
playing for the public as much as possible. We'll be formalizing our
structure a bit and for the first time, doing some fund raising.
We'll be supporting the band programs at our local middle and high
schools through a variety of activities. My hope is that we'll have
a summer band program in place to support the school musicians who
want to be active over their vacation.
We welcome
musicians of all concert band instruments. Those who can read music
but haven't played in awhile are also welcome. New musicians should
be in at least the 9th grade. We'll be practicing at the community
house at Steele Creek Athletic Association on Choate Circle at 3:00
pm on every Sunday in January. Auditions are not required.
Any questions may
be referred to me at 704-408-1118 or via our website at

Yours,
Keith Paulus
Acting Director
