Current Rezoning Petitions in Steele Creek

(July 15, 2021) The next zoning meeting of the Charlotte City Council is scheduled as a virtual meeting on Monday, July 19 beginning at 5:00. Approved Petitions

The Charlotte City Council approved the following petitions at its April 19 meeting.

2020-189 - Approximately 2.66 acres located along the east side of Gable Road, south of Shopton Road, and west of Sandy Porter Road. Parcel # 20107111.

2021-002 - Airport property on the south side of Byrum Drive. Parcel # 14105558.

Outstanding Petitions

2021-075 - 32 townhomes on southwest corner of Steele Creek Road and Hamilton Road. Site plan amendment to 2018-077. Parcel # 21909126, 21909127, 21909128, 21909129

2021-070 - Airport property; approximately 44 acres north of Douglas Drive in Steeleberry Acres. Parcel # 14122126

2021-063 - Approximately 105 acres located on  the west side of Beam Road and north side of Shopton Road, east of Steele Creek Road. Public hearing scheduled for July 19. To update industrial zoning. Parcel # 14124101

2017-065 - Apartments at the end of Rigsby Road east of Clearview Acres subdivision off Steele Creek Road south of I-485 near the Berewick Town Center. This petition is over four years old and likely will be withdrawn and replaced by a new petition. Parcel # 20107504

The following petitions have had public hearings and will have a decision by the City Council soon. Both petitions are on the agenda for the July 19 meeting. 

2021-042 - Approximately 10.73 acres on the north side of Shopton Road east of Steele Creek Road to allow an outdoor equipment storage yard. Parcel # 14125107, 14125108

2020-038 - 119 unit, 3-story senior community on Steele Creek Road south of Erwin Road. The Steele Creek Residents Association Land Use Committee supports this petition, but the Huntington Forest community generally opposes the petition as currently planned primarily due to traffic concerns. Parcel # 20143102.

Withdrawn Petitions

The following petitions have been withdrawn.

2021-006 -  210 residential units north of S Tryon Street and southwest of Erwin Road. This petition is for the same area as petition 2019-030, which original petitioner no longer is pursuing. Therefore there are no active projects for this property. Parcel # 20122103, 20122117.

2020-155 - Go Store It South, located north of South Tryon Street and west of I-485. Parcel # 20103222.

2020-133 - Initially proposed for 175 Townhomes on Hamilton Road west of Steele Creek Road. Instead, developer will disperse workforce housing in the project and build 156 single-family units under existing zoning (R-3). Parcel # 21909112, 21909113, 21909114, 21909115, 21909116, 21909117, 21909119, 21909130, 21909131, 21909132, 21909133.
