Current Rezoning Petitions in Steele Creek for September 2021

(September 18, 2021) The next zoning meeting of the Charlotte City Council is scheduled for Monday, September 20 beginning at 5:00. Please monitor the City Council meeting schedule and agenda HERE. Approved Petitions

The Charlotte City Council approved the following petition at its July 19 meeting.

2021-042 - Approximately 10.73 acres on the north side of Shopton Road east of Steele Creek Road to allow an outdoor equipment storage yard. Parcel # 14125107, 14125108

Outstanding Petitions

The following petitions have had public hearings and will have a decision by the City Council soon. Both of these petitions are on the agenda for a decision at the September 20 meeting. 

2020-038 - 119 unit, 3-story senior community on Steele Creek Road south of Erwin Road. The Steele Creek Residents Association Land Use Committee supports this petition, but the Huntington Forest community generally opposes the petition as currently planned primarily due to traffic concerns. Parcel # 20143102

2021-063 - Approximately 105 acres located on the west side of Beam Road and north side of Shopton Road. To update industrial zoning. Parcel # 14124101

The following petition is on the City Council agenda for a public hearing on September 20.

2021-070 - Airport property; approximately 44 acres north of Douglas Drive in Steeleberry Acres. Parcel # 14122101, 14122102, 14122103, 14122104, 14122126

2017-065 - Apartments at the end of Rigsby Road east of Clearview Acres subdivision off Steele Creek Road south of I-485 near the Berewick Town Center. This petition is over four years old and likely will be withdrawn and replaced by a new petition. Parcel # 20107504

2021-075 - 32 townhomes on southwest corner of Steele Creek Road and Hamilton Road. Site plan amendment to 2018-077. Parcel # 21909126, 21909127, 21909128, 21909129

2021-093 - Planned unified development with offices, retail, residential, and a community hospital. Approximately 185 acres east of Steele Creek Road, north of Brown-Grier Road, and south of I-485. Parcel # 20109108, 20109115. Replaces Petition 2018-155 for Parcel 20109115.

2021-101 - Long Cove Club & Marina off Pine Harbor Road and Rainbarrel Road. To rezone the site of the existing club and marina to create conforming zoning district for the site. New owners have transitioned the facility from members only to a commercial enterprise. Parcel # 19934202

2021-117 - Rezoning for The Avenues of Steele Creek Apartments (formerly Yorkridge Apartments) to an increased density category. How the petitioner plans to change this existing apartment complex is unclear. Parcel # 20140105

2021-118 - Industrial property located on the east side of Westinghouse Boulevard, south of Shopton Road West, and west of Steele Creek Road. Parcel # 19918117

2021-127 - Medical offices on Steele Creek Road south of Huntington Meadow Lane. Parcel # 20123104, 20123105, 20123109
